Feature wall in geometric style painted dark blue/green and gold

Problem(s):
Feature wall. Wainscotting. Accent wall with moulding. Applied moulding wall. Accent wall slats. Wall panelling.

Solution(s):
This process starts with a design consultation so that we can better understand the size of the wall(s) and what design(s) is desired. For more complex designs, we can use painters tape to mock up what the design would look like in order to get a better feel for the design. The materials we use would depend on the project, but MDF or pre-primed pine boards work well in this application.

For installation, we typically wet-set the pieces with construction adhesive, which allows the joints to be perfectly flat and tight even if the wall is not flat. We have done accent walls in new condos with bare walls that have required this technique. We also glue the seams so they stay tight over time.

For something like wainscotting or boxes, we can pre-assemble the boxes and even use biscuits or pocket holes to pre-join the pieces so that they stay together indefinitely.

For colour, the walls can be all the same colour, and we can mask and spray the whole wall on site. Alternatively, if a two-tone look is desired, we can pre-finish the contrasting pieces and pre-paint the wall. Then we can install the trim using construction adhesive and tiny 23g pin nails that can barely be seen. This way, the holes do not need to be filled and the pieces don’t need to be repainted after installation.

The design options here are endless! They can range from applied mouldings making boxes to break up a large wall and class it up to complex geometric patterns. An accent wall can be put on a prominent wall in your home, on a stairwell going up the stairs, on a stair landing, in an office or commercial space to create visual interest/impact. You name it, we can do it!
