Bifold doors are a common option for closet doors in homes, condos, and offices, as they fold out of the way and provide access to the majority of a closet. Bifold doors are typically used for narrower openings, such as hall closets, laundry closets, coat closets, etc., but can also have two opposing doors for larger openings. Bifold doors can be as simple as a flat front, hollow core door or more elegant with wood panelling, solid wood core, or mirrored fronts. Either way, these doors have a top track and have a top and bottom pivot point on the side they open towards.

As with all closet door types, bifold doors can run into issues, including binding, misalignment, and the holes for the pivots at the top and bottom can become enlarged or the surrounding wood can split. If resistance is felt, it’s best not to force the doors as a larger repair or replacement may be necessary. We are often able to adjust the doors to get them working smoothly again! However, in cases where there is a hardware malfunction, we can replace individual parts or the whole track and pivots to make them work as new. And, depending on how damaged the holes are, we can often repair the wood and use new hardware.

As an alternative to repairs, or for adding doors where there aren’t doors currently, we are also able to supply and install new bifold doors. We can source a wide range of door designs (including trims, colours, mirrored, etc.) in stock or custom sizes. We will come and measure the opening and order doors that fit exactly!

Get in touch if your bifold doors need an adjustment, some new parts, or you are considering a replacement or a new installation!
